About the Artist

 Scott Johnson has been a professional illustrator for over 25 years. He began his career in 1994 doing artwork for tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Star Wars, MechWarrior, and Mage: The Ascension. However, his most popular work was for Rifts, Heroes Unlimited, Palladium Fantasy and other games published by Palladium Books. His iconic cover for the Rifts Ultimate Edition main rulebook was nominated for an Ennie Award in 2005, and was included in Spectrum 13: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art.

During that time, Scott also worked on a series of Warhammer 40k book covers for Games Workshop. This included a cover for Daemonifuge by Kev Walker and Jim Campbell, one of the best selling Warhammer 40k graphic novels ever published. Scott's cover depicting Ephrael Stern has been reprinted multiple times in various formats.

 Scott began freelancing for Marvel Entertainment in 2003, doing superhero artwork for their licensed merchandise and toys. This was the beginning of an aggressive licensing campaign by Marvel, making sure their toys and products dominated the shelves of every retail store in America. Scott's Spider-Man art appeared on countless items including food packaging, children's lunch boxes, backpacks & school supplies, posters, pillows, clothing, toys and more. For many kids of the 2000s, Scott's artwork defines the nostalgic look of their favorite Marvel characters.

In 2005 Marvel signed Scott to an exclusive contract, making him a full time artist for their licensed products. It was the first contract of it's kind to be offered by Marvel's Creative Department to any freelancer. This exclusive arrangement lasted over a decade. As a full time Marvel artist, Scott created promotional and licensing art for every MCU movie from Iron Man through Avengers: Endgame.

 Scott is now freelancing again, but continues to do artwork for Marvel toys and games through Hasbro. He also creates art for Hasbro's own properties like GI Joe, Power Rangers, and Transformers. In 2019 he created promotional and licensing artwork for the film Snake Eyes: GI Joe Origins. He has also done promo, toy and merchandise art for the Netflix series Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy, Power Rangers: Beast Morphers and Power Rangers: Dino Fury.

Scott is currently living in the Chicago suburbs with his wife, 2 kids, an excitable puppy and a grumpy old cat. In his spare time he enjoys training in martial arts, collecting comic books, and occasionally writing about himself in the 3rd person.
